Teaching Trees is an exciting woodland learning project which delivers hands-on, curriculum linked activities to primary school groups.  Linking schools with well managed local woodlands and forests, our sessions demonstrate the importance of trees for wildlife, for timber, for the environment and for fun!

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, with an engaging teaching style, to take on this new role based in Staffordshire.  The successful candidate will work on a freelance basis, developing and leading education sessions for KS1 and KS2 children.  They will also devise and deliver training courses for teachers, giving them the confidence and inspiration to use woodlands for outdoor learning.   The post holder will create activities and resources which will help both the children and teachers develop a love of woodlands and an understanding of why, and how, we need to manage them.

Sessions will be delivered at RFS members’ woodlands, ranging from small farm sites, to large country estates.

Candidates are likely to have a higher education qualification in teaching, ecology, environmental science or forestry and will have experience of developing and delivering creative outdoor education activities.  They will need to be confident in marketing to schools and liaising with teachers and woodland owners.
