The 2015 winner of the RFS shield at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Glynllifon is Mark Young of Bethesda.

Mark was awarded the prize for his hard work and motivation whilst studying the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Countryside Management over the past two years.

Mark achieved distinction grades in all of the units of the course which is testament to the hard work he has done over the two years. Mark is motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic and shows a lot of interest in the industry.

As part of the course Mark has gained additional qualifications, including;

  •  First Aid
  •  Manual Handling
  •  Chainsaw Operations
  •  Use of Strimmer
  •  Woodchipper
  •  Pesticides
  •  Mini Digger

Mark has also completed a hedge laying course and learnt Welsh during his time at college. He carried out work experience with a local countryside contractor and has been offered employment with the company after finishing college.

Mark is regarded highly amongst the staff at the college and we wish him well with his future career.
