trees and forests

by Professor John Mackay, Wood Professor of Forest Science,

University of Oxford

Tuesday 24th October 2017

Corpus Christi College, Oxford

Professor John Mackay

Our trees and woods are threatened by climate change and the increasing number and severity of pests and diseases, such as ash dieback.  Professor Mackay will explain in a way that is accessible to the layman, how the science of genomics is breaking new ground in the quest to address this challenge. He will demonstrate how genomics is being applied to improve the resilience of our trees and woods to diseases currently threatening UK woodlands and how the science of genomics links to other research initiatives intended to improve tree health and productivity.
