RFS Woods

Although we are not major woodland owners, the Royal Forestry Society does run three model working woodlands. The largest is Hockeridge and Pancake Woods up on the Chilterns between Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire and Chesham in Buckinghamshire.

In the National Forest at Battram in North West Leicestershire, our new woodland venture is taking place, creating a model multi-purpose working woodland on previously arable land.

Near Welshpool in mid-Wales is our Charles Ackers Redwood Grove and Naylor Pinetum.

The first two woods are open to the public at all times and we are also glad to show parties round given enough notice. The property near Welshpool is closed to the general public because of its fragile nature but we show organised groups round and have Open Days so please do contact the RFS if you would like a tour.
