From an all time low of 5% in 1920, woodland cover was up to 10% by the Birth of the Millennium and should grow to 20% or more in the foreseeable future.
Following on from the expansion of commercial forests in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, a series of national, regional and local projects launched over the past decade are set to boost the UK’s tree cover remarkably.
