Teacher training

Boy With Worksheet

The Royal Forestry Society’s Teaching Trees programme is now offering teacher training as well as educational visits.

Our training courses will equip schools to explore all that their local woodlands have to offer, and give teachers the confidence and skills to use them for memorable learning experiences. Training is available for teachers and teaching assistants at one of our woodland sites, or can be adapted to take place in your own setting as In-service Training (INSET) or twilight sessions.

Two levels of training are available, dependent on experience and need.  For those new to outdoor learning, we have 'Getting started in the forest', and for those who may have some experience but would like new ideas for using woodland sites to deliver the National Curriculum, we have 'Outstanding Outdoor Learning':

Meet the trainer

Becky is a qualified teacher and forest school leader with experience of senior leadership, teacher training and as a teaching and learning advisor.

She says: “I love having the opportunity to work with children in the forest and see the benefits that it brings to them. Freedom to explore with all their senses and to learn about the world around them as they experience it.”
