Six more colleges join RFS Silky Fox Handsaw Awards

Six colleges have joined the RFS Silky Fox Handsaw Awards for 2014 – promoting excellence among students. In total 30 colleges offering Level 2 & 3 courses with strong practical forestry, arboriculture or woodland management elements are now participating in the awards scheme.

The new additions for 2014 are:


Scott James, winner of the RFS Silky Fox Handsaw Award at Herefordshire and Ludlow College (HLC), Holme Lacy Campus



RFS Education Manager Phil Tanner said: “We are delighted by the success of the scheme in encouraging young foresters to strive for excellence. Feedback from participating colleges tells us that students benefit from the goals set by the Award and their subsequent links with the RFS and active foresters and woodland managers

“Our thanks to  David Davenport and Silky Fox Saws for enabling us to expand the range of colleges we are working with and for presenting every winning student with a Gomtaro Silky Handsaw to help mark the beginning of their new careers.”
