Whole Society Meeting (WSM)

In May each year, the Royal Forestry Society organises a Whole Society Meeting (WSM).  This is a study tour of an area of the country which is open to all RFS members and their guests.

Every year, a different Division of the RFS hosts the WSM in order to showcase the best forestry across a range of forestry interests in their region. Traditionally the Annual AGM takes place during WSM week, along with the Annual Dinner.

The event takes place over four or five days. Members can purchase tickets for any number of days.

RFS members can stay at a conveniently located hotel at which the RFS has agreed preferential dining and rooming rates in advance.

The daily ticket price includes coach travel from/to the hotel to all venues, plus a hot or cold buffet lunch.

In 2020, the Whole Society Meeting will be hosted by the North West Midlands Division from Monday 11 May to Friday 15 May.  Our base hotel is the Mercure Madeley Court, near Telford.  Watch this space for more details!  We will be publishing the outline itinerary very soon.

In 2019, the WSM was hosted by the East Anglia division To see where we visited please click here.  A full write up of the event was published in the July 2019 issue of the Quarterly Journal of Forestry.
