Frequently Asked Questions

What facilities do we need?
- Access to some trees, preferably at least six different species. These do not need to be planted as a woodland, they can be in your garden, in a hedgerow or in your local area.

Who is it for?

Ages 4-14

What resources will we need?

- A Junior Forester Award Family Handbook to give you details of all of the activites.

- A way to record your work. You could use one of our booklets but its also fine to use whatever you have available to you. A camera is also useful to take pictures of what you've done.

- You'll need clothes you can get muddy, sturdy footwear and have waterproofs / sun protection depending on the weather.

- Optional resources are mentioned along with each session plan but these can be adapted to suit what you have available, the age of your children and their interests.

- Optional badges can be purchased from the RFS shop to present on successful completion.

Ready to register to take part?

To make it easier for families to take part we've removed the need to register during lockdown. We'd still love to know if you're taking part though. Do send us pictures of anything that you've done if you're happy for us to share them!
