In the light of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak and current Public Health advice, we are sorry to announce that we have had to cancel all RFS meetings taking place before 31 July.  We do not wish to put our members, volunteers and supporters at any risk during this very difficult period.  We will review events scheduled for August and September in a few weeks and will keep members informed of any developments.

We hope to be back up and running with our events schedule as soon as we safety can.

To summarise:

  • All Divisional woodland and indoor meetings scheduled to take place before 31 July have been cancelled or postponed. A decision on meetings scheduled for August and September will be taken as soon as we can. Check the events calendar for more information on individual meetings.
  • RFS one day training courses occuring before 31 July have been cancelled and ticket holders refunded.  We are delivering a small number of courses online and hope to be able to announce more soon.  Updates on this and the outlook for courses happening after 31 July can be found here
  • The Whole Society Meeting, hosted by the North West Midlands Division in Shropshire and Staffordshire, has been postponed to Monday 10 to Friday 14 May 2021 and ticket holders are being refunded.  Our hosts have all very generously offered to host us next year instead so as far as possible the itinerary listed here will remain unchanged
  • Shortlisting for the Excellence in Forestry Awards in Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man is taking place, but the judging and awards ceremony will be postponed to July 2021.
  • The Treescapes2020 conference 1-2 July has been rescheduled for 30 June-1 July 2021.
  • Teaching Trees visits are suspended until schools return to normal, which is not expected before September.
  • The Overseas Study Tour to Finland (30 Aug to 10 Sept) has now been postponed to 2021.  Ticket holders have been contacted and we hope that the tour will go ahead from 29 August to 09 September 2021.  We will announce the new dates as soon as possible, following further discussions with our Finnish tour operator.

RFS Staff are working from home with occasional visit to the office to collect and send post. All calls to the office number 01295 678588 will be answered and emails replied to as normal, so please stay in touch.
